Russ Ferrell Artist Biography

Russ Ferrell was introduced to jewelry design in college where he was a comprehensive art major. Jewelry seemed to fit well with his interest in drawing and sculpture. After Russ received a BA in art from St. Cloud State University, he continued his studies by taking a diamond grading course from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The course taught him the finer points of selecting high quality diamonds for the clients he works for.

Geometric simplicity is the driving force behind each of Ferrell’s designs. When he began making jewelry in the early 1990’s, the feeling of clean, contemporary, flowing lines guided his creativity. The idea of "less is more" has always been incorporated into each ring, pendant, or set of earrings that Russ designs. He first starts with a beautiful gemstone and then designs the mounting to accentuate the stone to its fullest potential. In jewelry-making there are no boundaries, the only limits are one’s ideas and creativity.
